Cornhusker Nationals Trapshoot 1970
Dave Wells, who started what has become one of the largest high school
trap shoots in the nation organized the first Cornhusker Championship
Trapshoot in 1970. Dave arranged for a dual meet with Chadron State College. Jim Carlisle
was the person at Chadron who completed the arrangements.
Jim's son Tim Carlisle won the meet in 1994.
The meet was held in Norfolk. It was a college dual meet between Northeast Community
College and Chadron State College in Nebraska.
Today more than 2,000 high school and junior high shooters compete in what is one of
the biggest trapshoots in the nation.
